FAQ

Do you follow of a Code of Ethics?

I am Accredited Registrant (MNCPS Accred) with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and I work to a code of conduct according to its Code of Ethics. You can review these Code of Ethics here.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

At present I do not to offer in-person sessions. All sessions are conducted via secure video conferencing software.

Online therapy is an especially good option If travel is difficult for you or you are living abroad.

How much do you charge per session?

I offer a free introductory call followed by an initial consultation.

If you decide I am the right fit then my fee is £70 per 50-minute session.

I also offer a few slots per week at a concessionary rate for people on a low-income or students. The concessionary rate is £40 per 50-minute session. Please get in touch if you would to discuss.

What can I expect out of an initial consultation?

People often seek therapy looking for relief at the height of their distress. While that experience is entirely valid, I recommend to anyone seeking therapy to keep an open mind that the most effective work is done is with a therapist who you feel is the right fit. And that might take some shopping around.

The initial consultation helps with that. You’ll get the opportunity to give an overview of your reasons for coming to therapy and to bring up any questions or concerns you might have. Please keep in mind that the initial consultation isn’t an assessment. It’s more of an opportunity for you to get a feel for me as a therapist and how we might work together.

It’ll also help me determine whether or not I am able to assist you. Not all therapists will be able to help with every person; either for lack of fit or limitations in training to deal with specific issues. If that’s the case then I’ll do my best to help refer you to a colleague who may be better suited to help you; or I can provide specific information about where you can look for someone best suited to your needs.

What type of therapy do you provide?

The type of therapy you can expect is what I call Dynamic Intercultural Therapy. This approach:

  • Is underpinned with psychodynamic theory.

  • Is goal-oriented and holistic. Incorporating evidence based-interventions and practices that are tailored to your lifestyle and needs. Such as, personalised daily practices that promote mental, physical, spiritual, and social well-being.

  • Takes an intercultural approach that is sensitive to the importance of culture, beliefs, values, attitudes, race, religion and language. This works for a diversity of backgrounds, whether or not therapy is a part of your culture.

How long do you offer sessions for?

Dynamic Intercultural Therapy is open ended. Open ended therapy works best if you find that you’re facing various challenges and you’re looking for steady dedicated support in to explore long standing issues and facilitate meaningful change.

I also offer 12 week programs ideal for goal oriented work. Here we’ll work toward identifying your resistances and look at strategies for overcoming them.
